When I decided to run for the Kansas House, I felt it was important to file by petition.  I wanted to talk to the citizens of the 38th District to let you know why I am running.  I need that one-on-one connection with the people I seek to represent if I am going to do an effective job serving you in Topeka.  I believe it is the only way to give you a voice in what happens in our state government.  This is a commitment I make as I seek your support.

Sales Tax Rate

I support a sales tax cut on food purchases because Kansas has one of the highest sales tax rates on food in the nation.

Your Vote Matters

Do you think your vote doesn’t matter? Word just got out on the 2 school bonds that were just voted on in USD458. One failed by 3 votes, meaning if 2 people would have voted differently, they both would have passed. I believe the election for state offices in Kansas this November could well be decided by slim margins as well. Exercise your right! Your vote can and does make a difference!

Strengthen Public Education

Public education is the great strength in Kansas and need to be adequately funded.  Developing vocational and technological opportunities for Kansas students will be a priority for me.

Create a Responsible Tax Policy

A fair, balanced tax policy needs to be developed to promote job growth.  I will work to develop a good plan and build on it.

Build a Sound Infrastructure

Good highways, bridges, and utilities are keys to job development.  I will work to ensure they are a priority in the budget.

Transparency at the Statehouse

If elected, I pledge to promote and seek transparency in the Kansas House. I have looked at many of the problems facing our state and most are the result of shenanigans and backroom
deals. The series of articles by the Kansas City Star, https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article184179651.html , shed light on some of these problems, but time is a friend to those
who wish the truth is forgotten before election day. If elected I will represent the needs of House District 38 and the State in the most open method possible. You will know I have your back in Topeka!

Follow the Money

Do you think your vote doesn’t matter? Word just got out on the 2 school bonds that were just voted on in USD458. One failed by 3 votes, meaning if 2 people would have voted differently, they both would have passed. I believe the election for state offices in Kansas this November could well be decided by slim margins as well. Exercise your right! Your vote can and does make a difference!

I have often been told to see who our representatives represent you need to follow the money. The following information was taken from the Kansas Secretary of State Campaign Finance Reports.

Stuart Sweeney had 72 contributors, 49 from within the district and 23 from outside the district. The percentage of monetary contributions from within the district were 46.5% and 53.5% outside the district.

Willie Dove had 49 contributors, 3 from within the district and 46 from outside the district. The percentage of monetary contributions from within the district were 6% and 94% outside the district.

The above data begs the questions: "Who do you believe would represent the district the best in Topeka?" It is your decision to make on election day.
